Exodus–Drawn Out

The book of Exodus is filled with great stories. In these stories we recognize our own story of God rescuing us and calling us into a new life–just as He did for the Israelites. God draws us out of our sin and captivity, to draw us into true life in him.

Exodus–God Speaks

https://johnrisner.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Rise-Up-with-John-Risner-God-Speaks.mp3

Have you heard from the Lord? In Exodus 3, the Lord calls Moses from a burning bush. This unique story teaches us that God speaks. The question is, are we listening?

Exodus–Let My People Go

https://johnrisner.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Rise-Up-with-John-Risner-Let-My-People-Go.mp3

In Exodus, God demands of Pharaoh, “Let my people go!” The hardened heart of Pharaoh refuses and plagues are unleashed upon Egypt. Through the plagues, God reveals Himself to be the true God, the mighty Creator, a just judge, and a gracious Savior.

Exodus–The Lord is My Salvation

https://johnrisner.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Rise-Up-with-John-Risner-God-is-My-Salvation.mp3

The people of Israel leave Egypt, but reach the Red Sea. With Pharaoh’s army fast approaching, they have nowhere to turn. But God makes a way where there is no way! “The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.” Exodus 15:2

Exodus–Grumbling or Gratitude

https://johnrisner.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Rise-Up-with-John-Risner-Grumbling-or-Gratitude.mp3

In Exodus 16-18, God continually shows mercy to the grumbling Israelites. He extends that same mercy to us! Our right response is gratitude.

Exodus–Of Laws & Love

https://johnrisner.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Rise-Up-with-John-Risner-Of-Laws-Love.mp3

Why did God give so many rules and laws in the Old Testament? God’s law shows us what it means to be His treasured possession. It helps us to more fully understand God’s love for us, and it helps us identify our own failings–and our need of God’s grace.
